Go behind the scenes with Ed Sheeran in new documentary

Ed Sheeran is bearing his soul to the world. He’s used to doing that with his emotional music, but now he’ll be bringing cameras into the mix.

Yes, we will be getting a four-part docu-series from Ed about life as a musician, husband and father.

He’ll be following in the footsteps of Elton John and Adele who used the same team to create their own documentaries for Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All.

Over the course of his career, Ed has kept his private life, just that, private.

This series follows Ed after he learns of life-changing news and reveals his hardships and triumphs during the most challenging period of his life.

According to Disney+ the series blends “exclusive, never-before-seen personal archive, present-day actuality, authentic interviews with his wife and loved ones, and intimate performances in cinematic locations, the series widens the lens to unearth what Sheeran thinks of the world, of himself and his music, as well as showcases a decade of hits enjoyed by subscribers around the world”.

“I’ve always been very guarded in my personal and private life; the only documentary I’ve ever made has been one that focused on my songwriting,” Ed explains

Disney approached me to make a four-part documentary, and it felt like the right time to open the door and let people in. I hope people enjoy it.”

Ed isn’t the only musician working on a documentary this year.

Lewis Capaldi announced that he has been working on a documentary with Netflix that will drop to coincide with his new album.

Netflix explains: “Filmed over several years, with exclusive, never-before-seen footage, the 26-year-old singer-songwriter somewhat dizzyingly finds himself back at his parent’s house in Scotland to begin work on his highly anticipated second album.

“The film captures Capaldi’s defining year, struggling to balance the familiarity of home, normality, and all he’s ever known, with life as one of the biggest stars on the planet, gleaning an intimate portrait of his unique character, hopes and fears in his own words.

“Digging beneath the popular clichés surrounding the most unlikely of popstars reveals a deeply thoughtful and self-reflective young man at a unique crossroads in his life as he carries the weight of trying to eclipse the success of his record-breaking debut album.”

The documentary Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now drops on Netflix on April 5th.

Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All drops on Disney+ on Wednesday May 3rd
