David Whelan and his dance partner Salome Chachua opened up tonight’s show with the Salsa to Wrapped Up by Olly Murs which saw the couple become dancing mummies.

“You have raised the temperature in this room along with the bar,” shared judge Loraine Barry. “What a salsa! Action, action and interaction.”

While Brian Redmond added: “You’ve probably got your place wrapped up in the final already.”

David was awarded his first 30 points of the season after receiving all ten’s from the judges.

Following their leaderboard-topping Charleston on last Sunday’s show, Laura Fox and her professional partner Denys Samson danced the American Smooth to Monster Mash by Bobby Pickett in a Frankenstein-inspired routine.

“My little foxy Frankenstein. Can I just say how excited I was watching that dance? Those lifts!” shared Arthur Gourounlian.

Brian, however, wasn’t completely convinced, adding: “It was a bit of a mish-mash, some of the ballroom sections just lacked a little bit of finesse.”

They received an impressive 26 points from the judges.

Jason Smyth and Karen Byrne

“The rhythm was so dominant,” explained Loraine. “It was great for the music and also great for the Viennese Waltz. And that’s what it was, a great Viennese Waltz.”

“That is the strongest I’ve seen you look all season,” added Brian. “The power of swing was brilliant all the way through.”

They took home a total of 27 points.
