The Crystal Swing family have suffered a devastating loss, as Mary’s mother and Derek and Dervla’s grandmother has passed away.
The heartbreaking news comes just as Dervla and Derek are reaching major milestones in their lives – Dervla has just given birth to her first child and Derek recently got engaged to his long time love Claire Mc Auliffe.
Mary was always very close to her mother and she’s finding it difficult adjusting to life without her.
“I was with her all the time, there wasn’t a day in my life that I wasn’t with her and if I wasn’t with her in body, I was with her in mind.” Mary told RSVP Magazine.
“I cared for her for a number of years in my home and my whole life I was surrounded my mother. There is a huge void in my life since her death because there is emptiness without her.”
However, she’s acknowledged that her death is part of “the circle of life” and her children and grandchild have helped her through this difficult period.
“Life goes on, she was nana to Derek and Dervla and now I am a grandmother to Paul, the circle of life is going around.” she said.
“She was in her 95th year and she received all of the sacraments before she died. I know that she is with me and I wear her wedding ring every day.
“Since she passed away, she is interceding for me and I have peace in my life knowing that she is in heaven.”
