Des Cahill is the latest celeb to leave RTE’s Dancing With The Stars, after being axed from the competition last night.
‘Dancing Dessie’ performed a jive to ‘Do You Love Me?’ from the film Dirty Dancing, but he failed to impress audiences and ended up in the dance-off. Judges then opted to save his opponent with Aoibhin Garrihy and her parter Vitali Kozmin, and Des was sent home.
Although he thoroughly enjoyed his time on the show, Des admitted that it was time for him to leave the competition. He also said that the entire experience was special, particularly meeting his dance partner Karen Byrne.
Speaking to the Irish Mirror the 58-year-old said, “It would have been so wrong if anyone else went out. It’s been absolutely fantastic. In the grand scheme of my life it hasn’t been the most important in any way but it’s been very special and Karen was the most special part.
“I’m not relieved about leaving but I was the right man to go at this time. The only complaint I have about my marks is I thought the dancing was better and they just gave me the same mark every week.
“But I’ve no complaints, everything about this was positive.”
The GAA pundit also stated that he left the competition at exactly the right time, because he’ll now be able to have a drink on Friday when his beloved club Cuala play in the All-Ireland Club Championship at Croke Park!
“I have the All-Ireland club final with Cuala this week, I was worried I couldn’t have a drink so I can give it socks now,” he said.
We’ll miss you Des!
