We have had a gaping hole in our hearts since Derry Girls ended.

And while we’re loving seeing the cast branch out and take over the world, we’re missing Lisa McGee’s signature wit.

Thankfully we won’t have to miss it for too long as she has a brand new show in the works.

How to Get to Heaven From Belfast is Lisa’s latest project, which sees her move from her native Derry to Northern Ireland’s capital city!

The eight-part series follows longtime friends Saoirse, Robyn and Dara, who are now in their late 30s. So basically grown-up Derry Girls, right?

We already adore these characters based on their descriptions alone!

Per Variety, Saoirse is a writer who has a “compulsion to hit the self-destruct button”, Robyn is a “sweary, stressed-out” mother of three and Dara is the carer of her elderly parents who has yet to move out of her childhood bedroom.

The trio’s life is turned upside down when they receive an email telling them that an old classmate called Greta has passed away. The women used to be very close with Greta and there is some unfinished business to attend to.

“The friends decide to attend Greta’s wake and discover all may not be quite as it seems. They soon find themselves embroiled in a dark and twisted mystery. It’s absolutely terrifying. But it’s also… utterly thrilling,” the synopsis reads.

Lisa shared the news on Twitter joking: “There is a character from Derry in it before I get banned from the old hometown.”

While no air date has been announced, we couldn’t be more excited for this!
