Funny man Al Porter has revealed that he’s looking for love, and his dad has come on board as his matchmaker!

Speaking to Evoke.ie, Al said that he is dating at the moment but has yet to find Mr. Right, because he’s so busy with his career. He said that he’s been unlucky in love recently and is always falling for the wrong men – this is where Al’s dad has stepped in to help.

“I’m constantly falling in love with straight men and my dad hates that. He’s like, ‘The last one had a baby seat in his car – would you not just meet a gay man?’

“My dad has decided and says, ‘You don’t need a gay man, you need a very gay man. You need someone who likes to go to Mamma Mia and Priscilla Queen of the Desert.’ I’ll say I want a footballer and he’ll be like, ‘You don’t need a footballer, they’re no good for you.’

“We’ve done a complete U-turn, because I remember pretending to check out girls with my dad, so it’s interesting,” he said.

The 23-year-old is aware that his manic schedule is impeding his quest of finding a boyfriend, but is ever to make a name for himself outside of Ireland.

He has just announced details of a nationwide tour, Al Porter At Large: The Honeymoon Tour, as well as appearing on Live at the Apollo, bagging a development deal with Universal and landing a spot on a new UK panel show alongside Carol Vorderman and Kelly Brook, he’s going to be very busy.

He said, “There are hopefully more UK panel shows coming up and I’d love to do another short for Sky Arts. Hopefully I’ll come back and do more Cutting Edge when it’s back, because I really enjoyed that.

“My hope would be and I have my eye set on doing some sort of a chat show in Ireland. I always thought I might be too young, but someone said to me recently, ‘You know, Gay Byrne was only 26 when he took on The Late Late Show.'”
