Irish actor Colin Farrell is set to run this year’s Dublin Marathon on October 27th to celebrate his friend, Emma Fogarty’s “miracle” 40th birthday.

The Banshees of Inishirin star will be running the 42km marathon with his good friend to help raise funds for the Debra charity which supports people in Ireland suffering from the skin condition Epidermolysis Bullosa.

The pair are hoping to raise €400,000 for the Debra charity in the run dubbed “Emma’s Run to 40”.

EB is an incurable genetic skin condition; it causes the skin to be extremely fragile hence the reason it is often referred to as “butterfly skin”.

Emma Fogarty, who lives with this severe skin condition was not expected to live a week beyond birth “but she reached her 40th milestone last month”.

In an interview with RTÉ, Emma stated: “He’s going to run 44km and that’s his challenge, but I’ll be doing the last four kilometers with him.’

She went on to say that “each kilometre we do represents a decade I have lived and survived EB”.
