Colin Farrell has revealed his delight at being cast in the new J.K. Rowling flick, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, admitting that his favourite part of landing a role in such a movie, was being able to play with the iconic wands.
In the Harry Potter prequel, Colin plays the part of wizard, Percival Graves. The film follows Graves and Newt Scamander, 70 years before Harry Potter reads a book about the pair in school.
The Castleknock native had a whole heap of fun on set, and was thrilled to be able to do something more light-hearted than he’s so used to.
Speaking to The Sun, Colin said, “I mean it’s enormous amounts of fun. I have a f***ing wand. I mean seriously, seriously, I’m not even joking.
“I’ve done plenty of things that have been you know, more that have had a strain of despondency or pain or loss or violence and all that, so this feels very different from anything I’ve done.”
The Dubliner is over the moon that he can finally show his sons, Henry and James some of his work, but will leave it entirely up to them, as to whether they will actually watch their dad on the big screens.
He said, “It’s kind of nice that I’ve done something that my boys could actually see. I mean they may not want to right now, or like it. And that’s fine also, but J,K. Rowling is obviously just an extraordinary, extraordinary thing.”
Similar, Jamie Dornan has spoken out about how children play a part in the movie choices he makes.
The Fifty Shades star admitted that he’s very aware now of the type of movie he makes, and would like to take on some lighter roles, which his little girls could watch.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Jamie said, “I am mindful that I have two children now. There is part of me that does want to do something they can watch soon – that is kind of lighthearted – because I don’t consider myself a dark or menacing person despite what I portray onscreen. I definitely want to have the opportunity to show other sides as well.”
