Claudine Keane admits that Los Angeles will always be a home from home for their family. The couple lived there for six years with their son Robert while Robbie was contracted with LA Galaxy.
Although the family are currently back in Ireland, Claudine said that part of their hearts will always be in California because it’s where their son Robbie Junior grew up and first went to school. It’s also where their second son Hudson was born.
Speaking to the Irish Sun the mum-of-two said, “After six years there— and my son is only seven— he really knows the place. It’s like his second home anyway. I don’t think we’ll ever completely detach.
“In school they call him the Irish guy and the guy with the Irish accent. It’s from being around Rob and I so much and relatives coming over. It was the closest thing I ever had to a home, bar Ireland and having my family.
“Living in London, I never got that sense of settling. I think having children helps you do that because you bring them to school and they make friends and settle.
“The timing of when we went to LA was important in our family life. It was around the time that Robert started socialising with kids. A lot of our memories are there so we have a special connection to that.”
Claudine also revealed that Robbie has been made offers from various clubs in England, Asia and Canada, so their future home is unknown right now.
“We go back to LA in the middle of June for about two months. I know a Canadian team made an offer, a team in the Far East and some teams in England and Asia.
“It’s always a lot to digest in a short amount of time. It’s nice to have a little bit of time to think,” she said.
