Celebs and Twitter users have hit out at George Hook after he made comments about a young boy facing deportation.
Nine-year-old Eric Zhi Ying Xue who was born in Ireland but is not a citizen could be deported along with his mother.
A campaign to prevent this has been launched by the child’s school in Bray and it has been reported that their local TD Simon Harris is also assisting.
Today, Hook criticised Simon Harris, stating that he should be focusing on crowding in hospitals.
“With trolly numbers at world record levels, Minister @SimonHarrisTD is worried — about a Chinese boy!!” Hook said.
When one Twitter user criticised him for the tweet, labelling it a ‘disgraceful statement’, he replied: “The Chinese boy is the responsibility of the Minister for Justice not Health.”
Since this morning many people have taken to social media to respond to the tweet, with celebs and Irish stars highlighting their issues with it.
Elaine Crowley, Jennifer Zamparelli and many more expressed their feeling about the comment.
