Dancing with the Stars is no easy gig between the time commitment, intense rehearsals and performing in front of a live audience, the pressure can easily get to you.

Being surrounded by a good support system is vital for getting through the weeks, and luckily for Carl Mullan that is exactly what he has.

So when it comes down to how he manages to balance his hectic schedule the 2FM presenter can’t help but credit his wife, Aisling.

Telling VIP Magazine: “She has really just been unbelievable. When I found out I was doing this, I had known people who had done it before so I asked them about it and they were like it’s a huge time commitment.”

“I kind of said, ‘Ais, I’m after getting asked if I want to do DWTS’ and I hadn’t even finished the sentence when she was like ‘you better do it!'”

“She was like whatever we need to do as a family to make this happen, we’ll make it happen. She’s been absolutely class,” he added.

Speaking about his experience on the show so far, Carl admits he’s been trying to enjoy it as much as possible as you never know when you could be “booted” off.

On Sunday night’s show, Carl found himself in the bottom three alongside Leah O’Rourke and Shane Byrne, which Carl revealed he was nervous about.

“At the start of the week, I said to Emily, right I need to hype myself up for the week from hell because it was Samba and I was told it was the hardest dance but I actually really enjoyed this week.”

“It would be awful to look back and think to yourself I should have enjoyed that more, so we kind of just tried to enjoy it as much as possible.”

Thankfully, Carl will see another week on the show alongside his dance partner Emily Barker, and the pair couldn’t be more excited about it.

“When you get into rehearsals and start exercising, the endorphins get going, it’s a great feeling, and I’m loving that part,” said Carl

With next week’s theme being Movies, Carl and Emily tease also teased what the audience can expect, sharing: “For the first time, we’re doing lifts.”

We can’t wait to see how that goes!

Dancing with the Stars continues on RTÉ One on Sunday at 6:30pm
