Taking to Instagram, he shared his “story time” to his followers.

“I’d like to bring you back to this day last week when everything started out as normal on the 2FM Breakfast Show,” he began before sharing a clip of the show.

“The reason why it was important that it was only Donncha and myself on the breakfast show is that the last time Aisling was pregnant and went into labour, two years ago, it was only Donncha and myself on the air that day,” he went on to say.

“Doireann was on her holidays, and during the show two years ago I got a phone call from Ash to say she had gone into labour. I had to abandon Donncha live on the air and go become a dad.

“So given that Doireann was on her holidays last week and it was only Donncha and myself on the show again and that Aisling was heavily pregnant, Donncha and myself made a joke about this on the air. About the prospect of me having to abandon him if Aisling was to go into labour.”

He joked that they had prepared listeners for a “chaotic show” as he was sure Aisling was going to go into labour.

Carl went on to say: “That was at ten past seven in the morning. At quarter past seven in the morning, my phone rings.”

Did Carl manifest this?

“So having just made a joke about it at ten past seven in the morning, at twenty past seven in the morning I had to come back onto the air and explain that I had to leave.

“That I once again was going to have to abandon Donncha because for a second time my wife had gone into labour while we were live on the breakfast show.”

Finishing up the video, he said: “Donncha I am truly sorry for putting you through that, again.

“And Aisling I’m also sorry because I am pretty sure it’s my fault and Donncha’s fault that you went into labour, we definitely caused that, so I’m sorry.”
