Calum Best appeared on ITV’s Lorraine this morning, and opened up about the trust issues he battles with because of his dad’s past addiction problems.
The reality star, who recently appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and Chanel 5’s In Therapy, spoke candidly to presenter Lorraine Kelly about the struggles he’s been faced with, including finding a therapist he can trust.
“It was raw, it was a struggle I battled with the therapist and I didn’t want to say things when I probably should.
“What I’ve learned about therapy is that it’s not easy and I’m not sure that it’s something that I can continue, I probably need it.
“My mum’s been telling me I need it for years, but with therapy you need to find someone that you are comfortable to talk to,” he said.
Calum also revealed that he faces many demons today because of his father, legendary footballer George Best’s, own alcohol addiction. When Lorraine asked him about this he wholeheartedly agreed by saying, “That’s correct, yes.”
The 36-year-old finds it hard to trust people because of this, making it especially difficult for him to find real love.
“I’m very well guarded and for years having to speak about that side things I’m very protected, I know the right answers to make sure no one comes in further than that.
“On a personal level it’s unfortunate, it’s tough for me to open up, trust people, meet somebody, trust them,” he said.
