Everyone loves a holiday, but unfortunately that time in the sun must come to an end. Something Brian Dowling knows all too well as the TV personality had to leave his family getaway early and return to Ireland. While husband Arthur Gourounlian and baby Blake remain in France.

The family head over to Marseille, France on Thursday night to visit Arthur’s family. But while Arthur and Blake will be staying for ten days, Brian had to jet home yesterday, and took to social media to share how hard it was to say goodbye.

The Big Brother champion began: “Being a parent KICKS YOUR ASS. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING prepares you for the LOVE but also the PAIN, THE WORRY, THE FEAR & the ANXIOUSNESS that comes with it.”

“This is all so new to [Arthur] & I & such a learning ground for the both of us. Sometimes it’s so hard to navigate all the emotions. Today was one of those days for me. Saying goodbye to Arthur & Blake was a tough one & honestly, it was more for Blake, sorry, Arthur.”

Brian admitted: “I was feeling emotional from the time I woke up & 100% knew a good cry would make me feel better & thankfully, it did.”

“Nothing like saying goodbye to your husband & daughter at airport departures to get the tears flowing. Blake was none the wiser & I actually see this as a positive. We will be reunited in 7 days & thankfully, this week is go go go for me.”

The radio presenter also opened up about experience guilt when it comes to balancing family life with other obligations,

“From my own personal experience of being a parent, and I want to be able to do it all. Still, be a great husband & friend/brother/uncle & of course, be the BEST dad for Blake. I still want to be able to work & enjoy my time away from her as much as I do when I’m with her.”

“Surely as parents, we DESERVE THAT? But this is where it gets tricky & the dad guilt enters,” he confessed.

Continuing: “From my only 8 months of dealing with it, it feels like this is something I will have to live with & deal with, especially as I 100% want to LIVE MY LIFE TO THE FULLEST. Here’s to taking it day by day but also if I need to cry & express my emotions I shall be doing it.”

Brian received plenty of support in the comment section, especially, from hubby Arthur, who wrote: “WE LOVE YOU and MISS YOU Oh, that was so very scary this morning.”

The DWTS judge has been keeping fans updated on their French getaway through social media. Confessing he and Blake would miss Brian, but would be sending him a post card during the week.

He and Blake, along with his family, headed to the beach following Brian’s departure, serving as the perfect distraction from his absences.
