Brian Dowling and his husband Arthur Gourounlian have recently welcomed their second child, and Brian has opened up about how he’s handling becoming a father of two.
Brian and Arthur welcomed baby girl Blu into their family after she was born on June 23rd. Brian’s sister Aoife was a surrogate for the couple, and she’s recovering well since the birth.
In a recent Instagram post, Brian gave his followers an update as Blu turned three weeks old, and got real about what life has been like for the new dads. Stating that everything is “go, go, go”, he joked that he even looks “slightly possessed”.
Brian hasn’t hid away from the fact that a new child in the house has been an exhausting but completely worthwhile experience, which he wouldn’t change for the world.
“Most days, I don’t know what to wear or what I’m even wearing and honestly, I don’t really care. At the moment, slippers with socks are my go-to look,” he said.
“Absolutely, there is a major change going from one child to two. It honestly takes an adjustment and Arthur and I are doing it at our own pace.”
Updating fans on how Blu is getting on at home, Brian said, “She has started to open her eyes more and you can fully engage in conversation with her.” He went on to say, “We have also gotten some smiles and honestly, they could make me cry.”
The couple’s two year old daughter Blake has also been a help to them, and according to Brian, she “has now activated her big sister role and is very hands on; some may say too hands-on at times.”
“I’ve now fully embraced the fact that sleep is overrated and feeling like I’ve jet lag 24/7 is the new me” Brian joked.
“I’ve also fully embraced the fact that Arthur looks radiant and well, I don’t. This phase will also pass and I will be back to my glamorous self in no time, but for now, Daddy is super happy where he is.”
As he should! Huge congratulations to the happy family.
