We love a good bout of handbags at VIP Towers, and the feud between Brian McFadden and Kian Egan is simmering nicely!
You’ll remember that Kian fired the first shot last week, when he commented on the news that Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy were embarking on a tour of songs and audience chat under the name “Boyzlife.” Asked about his opinion of the former Westlife and Boyzone members coming together under that name, Kian said ““Personally speaking, I think it’s not the right way to do it, and I think it was pretty unfair on the fans to make them think that.”
And if you didn’t get the point from that comment, try this one. “I think it’s a bit odd,” said Kian, “a member of Westlife who left the band after four years decides to use half the name for whatever it is that they’re doing. If Westlife ever got back together again, it would be Westlife. It would be the four guys who stood in Croke Park the day Westlife ended”. Ouch!
The former Westlifer has hit back, however, and the gloves are off! Speaking on the Late Late Show last night, Brian said the the following: “I was actually in Westlife for more than four years but maths was never Kian’s thing in fairness.” (Brian is right – it was closer to 6 years!)
“At the end of the day myself and Brian are after teaming up to do a show and talk about 20 years in the business,” he said. “A saucer of milk for Kian please.”
While we suspect that all this bitching is good natured, and neither is unduly worried about what the other side is saying, we’re still looking forward to the next round.
“Boyz-gate” could still turn nasty…
