VIP Publishing is delighted to announce that the eir Power of Women Awards are back.

These awards celebrate the best and brightest female entrepreneurs in Ireland, across the worlds of fashion, technology, beauty, lifestyle, wellness and more!

The winners, decided by an expert panel and awarded at an exclusive lunch in Dublin’s Marker Hotel on November 18th, will be profiled in the December issue of VIP Magazine.

The Beauty Industry Award sponsored by Great Lengths celebrates the trailblazing women across the beauty market, from retail to services. Here’s a bit more information about our inspiring nominees…

Drs Vanessa and Lisa Creaven – Spotlight Oral Care

Dr Lisa and Dr Vanessa Creaven, practising cosmetic dentists and sisters from Galway, created Spotlight Oral Care, a hugely successful range that includes teeth whitening strips, toothpaste and sonic toothbrushes — 17 products in total to date.

All of their clinically proven formulas are made with clean ingredients, and their packaging is biodegradable; for example, their toothpaste tubes are made from a by-product of sugarcane, which is carbon negative.

Selling in Ireland, Europe, the UK, and the United States, turnover for the business jumped by 170 per cent last year as Spotlight almost tripled its staff.

Suzanne Jackson – Dripping Gold

The blogger-turned-businesswoman established her SoSu beauty brand in 2015.

By 2019, profits at SanFran Cosmetics, the company she co-owns with businessman Fran O’Gorman, had grown by €3 million. In 2018, during this success, she launched another business: a tanning range called Dripping Gold.

Suzanne said that her aim was to create a natural-looking bronzed colour, that gives an even fade. With a mousse, lotion and spray to choose from, the tan became a fast favourite for women across the country, as well as famous faces, such as reality star Molly Mae Hague. Stocked in pharmacies, Primark and online, sales continue to soar.

Kim O’Sullivan – The Dublin Makeup Academy

If you’ve had a Phibrows treatment here in Ireland, then Kim trained your beauty practitioner. She has master status in semi-permanent eyebrow treatment and has been instrumental in its introduction to Ireland and its success here.

Kim is a pioneering brow artist as well, running her salon on Fitzwilliam Square with great success. She is in the process of launching her very own brow careline, BrowAid, which has been delayed due to difficulties with the pandemic but is expected in early 2023.

A respected expert and trusted technician, she’s responsible for the eyebrows of many of Ireland’s biggest celebrities, from Pippa O’Connor to Vogue Williams.

Una Tynan – Blank Canvas

Donegal woman Una set up her makeup business in the middle of the economic downturn in 2011 and despite this challenging time, turned it into a huge success.

It began as a professional brush range, which has since grown to 150 different styles. Una’s range of products is now sold at more than 700 locations, as well as expanding into the UK.

In recent times, she teamed up with Pippa O’Connor to co-found Up Cosmetics. Their collaboration was launched during the pandemic and is now eyeing international expansion after becoming a massive hit in Ireland.

Grace Reed Carroll and Karen Dempsey – TRNDBTY.com

TRNDBTY.com is an online beauty store that has an extensive range of high-quality brands. Brands stocked on the site include homegrown products from the likes of Sculpted by Aimee and Ella & Jo and international brands like Inky List and Declare.

Co-founders Grace and Karen said they wanted to make hard-to-get brands more accessible in Ireland. Grace is a qualified Food Scientist that always had an interest in the beauty industry, and in 2015 she began working in sales and marketing, which pushed her to set up the e-commerce beauty site.

Karen also always had a passion for beauty and makeup, becoming a beauty therapist, and then working in sales for International Cosmetics and Fragrances, before starting a distribution business in 2014.

Kerry Hanaphy

Having gained the reputation of “The LipQueen”, Kerry is regarded as one of Ireland’s finest aesthetic nurses. Running three clinics, she specialises in dermal and lip fillers, as well as revolutionary facial treatments that deliver incredible results.

Kerry began her career as a dedicated respiratory and chemotherapy nurse, with over 20 years experience in some of Ireland and the UK’s top hospitals and clinics. She is credited with introducing some of the most innovative, effective treatments to Ireland, and she leads a team of healthcare professionals consisting of medical doctors, dental surgeons and registered nurses.

Kerry also trains and educates medical professionals on behalf of premium brands such as Galderma and Vida Aesthetics.

Linda Stinson – Bellamianta

Bellamianta was created in 2015 after a tanning disaster on Linda’s wedding day, with little sister brand Iconic Bronze launching a couple of years later. Using her years of experience in the beauty industry, a vegan, cruelty-free fake tan free of nasty chemicals, that was nourishing for the skin was created, and the mousse was a fast success.

The brand built its name by providing spray tans for Dancing with the Stars contestants, and soon it gained a huge celeb following, from the cobbles of Coronation Street stars to the Hollywood Hills of LA and the Love Island villa.

Now Tyrone native Linda heads up the company on her own, with the brand available in over 5,000 outlets nationwide including Brown Thomas and Boots, both here and in the UK.

Drs Jane and Katherine Mulrooney – Dr Mulrooney Clinic

Drs Jane and Katherine Mulrooney are at the forefront of advances in the treatment of ageing skin and cosmetic dermatology.

After studying medicine at NUI Galway, both sisters completed a master’s degree in Clinical Dermatology at the renowned St. John’s Institute of Dermatology. With a combined 30 years of experience in the field, they run the cosmetic dermatology practice Dr Mulrooney Clinic on Eglington Road in Dublin 4, which they opened in 2010.

Their interest in dermatology originated in childhood, when their father, a marine biologist, was inspired to develop an organic seaweed-based skincare range for sensitive skin, due to severe eczema they both suffered from. Dr Jane and Dr Katherine now own the range Seavite and have grown and revitalised the hugely successful brand.
