Barry Keoghan is one of Ireland’s brightest young stars.

However, he is quick to remember those who have paved the way for him, including his good friend and co-star Colin Farrell.

The pair originally worked together in 2017 for The Killing of a Sacred Deer before reuniting in 2022 for The Banshees of Inisherin.

He explained that Colin had a “massive impact” on his life.

“I feel dead comfortable around him. I can be very vulnerable around Colin. And Colin has a massive impact on my life — just the way that he talks to everybody on set — and is someone I admire onscreen and off the screen,” he explained in a chat with the New York Times.

“With that, you get more access to yourself — you can trust your co-star to push you and make you feel comfortable. He’s just a joy, man. Above him being a smashing actor, he’s just a smashing lad. I’ve learned a lot from him.”

He also shared what helps him unwind and keep himself grounded, his love of boxing hasn’t gone away and he is so delighted to have been able to get back into the ring.

Surprisingly, his other pastime is carpentry, His partner, Alyson Sandro‘s brothers have their own construction business, and he has been joining them on jobs when he’s not filming.

“I’m satisfied by the end of the day. I feel like I’ve really worked, practically and creatively,” he explained.

VIP Magazine sat down with Colin Farrell earlier this year, where he confessed that he struggled with being vulnerable during the movie.

“I knew I was stepping onto shaky ground anyway. I was more nervous getting on the plane for this job because there was so much at stake. I love Brendan and I love Martin. There was so much familiarity, I was going home. I was very excited. But because of the part and you never know what it’s going to be like, I knew it was going to go into us and I knew it was painful,” he confessed.
