She made her name in the industry playing crime boss Nidge’s wife Trish in RTE’S Love/Hate, but Aoibhinn McGinnity is ready to take on the Big Apple.
The gorgeous actress is setting her sights on American success after landing representation stateside.
The Monaghan-born beauty is planning a move to the city later this year and has linked up with both an agent and a manager in the hopes of breaking the US market.
Aoibhinn has just signed the dotted line to join the teams of Gersh Agency and Bill Butler Management, who look after the likes of Jane Krakowski, Calista Flockhart and Cindi Lauper and is hopeful the move will propel her to international stardom.
Speaking at the Peter Mark VIP Style Awards on Friday, the 28-year-old said:
“I’m just back from the States and I’m going back shortly – I’ve signed with an agent and manager over there, so I’m going back to figure some things out with them.”
She added: “You know, it’s not that different. I was kind of put off going for ages, thinking it’d be really hardcore, but it’s not as scary. They’re normal, nice people. We’ll see what comes of it.”
Aoibhinn also revealed that she doesn’t think she would like the gangland series that made her an Irish household name to return:
“I don’t know if I’d like it to, to be honest. If it was to come back, it’d need to be done very, very well. If it doesn’t, it’ll be for the right reasons. And y’know, if it does come back, it’ll be for the right reasons too – I’ve no doubt that it will be done very well.”
