Growing up as the eldest of three girls, Aoibhín Garrihy couldn’t have imagined that she would be the mother of three girls!
In fact, she never really saw herself as a mother until she welcomed her first child, Hanorah over four years ago.
Now with three tots underfoot, she is taking it all in her stride. But she can’t help but notice the similarities between herself and her sisters and her three children.
“It is just mad they can be so different,” she confessed in an interview the RTÉ Guide.
“John and Hanorah are two peas in a pod. She is him. Líobhan is totally different, I call her my little hippie. She doesn’t get stressed.”
But it is her youngest child, Isla, who just so happens to be the mirror of her auntie Doireann!
“She is hilarious, I think she’s the Doireann of the gang. Everytime I send a picture to the family Whatsapp, Doireann says, ‘There is my spirit child.’ She is a totally jolly soul, you can see there is divilment there.”
How sweet!
However, she went on to say: “I think we’ll have trouble with her; she’s not walking yet but as soon as she’s off, I can just imagine. Already she’s driving the other two mad.”
Although, she certainly wouldn’t change it for the world, as she fondly added: “It was similar when we were small. I just wanted Doireann to exit stage left but she just always wanted to be in the thick of it. That is just younger and older siblings.”
