Angela Scanlon has revealed if she would ever return to her roots and make the move back to Ireland. She was asked the question during an Instagram Q&A this week ahead of her new chat show launching here.

The presenter, who lives in London with her husband and their daughter replied; “No plans to move back to Ireland. Ideal dream case scenario would be to have a place in Ireland.”

However, she will be coming back here more this year as she said; “I am going back to shoot and to live for a few weeks for my new show.”

It’s an exciting time for the star as her very own chat show, Ask Me Anything is being unveiled very soon on RTE. The Saturday night program will see the Irish presenter interviewing her guests in an unusual format, as no questions are off limits.

Ask Me Anything with Angela Scanlon has been in the works now for a couple of years, but unfortunately due to the pandemic has had to be pushed back a number of times.

Chatting about the show at RTE’s new season launch she spoke about how there was a point where she didn’t think it would happen at all; “This has made it feel real for the first time.”

Angela shared that in March of 2020 she left RTE saying; “Sure I’ll see ya in a couple of weeks!” before the inevitable happened and we found ourselves in the midst of a pandemic and the entertainment industry coming to an almost complete standstill.

Continuing she added; “I had made peace that this would never happen again” but felt that “what will be will be theres bigger things happening in the world.”

Luckily for us the show is going ahead and we are very much looking forward to seeing Angela in the Saturday night slot and she hopes there will be an audience there to see it too; “Our hope has always been that we’ll have an audience in there” but that the “safety for team and crew and all the guests is a priority.”

Unlike your usual talk show where the hosts are often given a list of prescribed questions as well as agents warning them off certain topics, Ask Me Anything, means anything goes, as the name suggests!

Chatting about this side of the program Angela shared that this was the appeal for her although she doesn’t ever want to make her guests feel uncomfortable or ask particularly invasive questions as she understands the need fro privacy around aspects of your life too in the public eye.

“I don’t share much of my personal life. I don’t share my daughter or my husband much on social media and thats a personal choice but I always think having an interview with people where literally the only thing you’re allowed talk about is your book is so dull.”

Ask Me Anything with Angela Scanlon will air on RTE this Autumn.
