Amy Huberman’s not happy about the use of the term WAG

She has labelled the term as derogatory.

Irelands sweetheart, Amy Huberman is taking a stand against the term WAG and all that it stands for.

As the cover girl for the September issue of Tatler magazine, The Hubs expresses that the title is “derogatory and definitely not nice”

Amy disregards the term WAG

Amy explains in the magazine that “I hated being labelled a WAG when Brian was playing. Yes, you can break down every word, but essentially it is derogatory and definitely not nice. I just think it’s a tacky word and it’s lazy labelling. Like we can’t function unless we compartmentalise women into categories.”

Amy has been known as a WAG in the past due to her marriage to Ireland Rugby legend, Brian O’Driscoll (duh).

She states that it has been frustrating at times that the public are surprised by her honest sense of humour and charm: “A lot of guys come up to me and say ‘I follow you on Twitter and you’re actually very funny’, which is hilarious because I know they mean it as a compliment. I think in this day and age we need to stop saying things like that.”

Amy and Brian, too cute!

Although these issues have bothered her in the past, the comedian goes on to explain that her overall experience in the public eye has been positive and that she wouldn’t discourage her children from going into spotlight.

You go girl Amy, stand up for what you believe in!
