Aisling Bea has announced the exciting news that her Channel 4 show This Way Up, will be back for a second season.
Sharing the news to Instagram the Irish star said; “The worst kept secret is out!…Series 2 of #ThisWayUp is official & films in January.”
“Very excited to get the band back together & start jamming, man.”
She also shared that writing it kept her busy during lockdown; “Writing the second series during a pandemic has been as easy as trying to keep an intricate butter sculpture intact on a hot frying pan, but I’m also really pulling off my new carpal tunnel syndrome, hunched back & squinty eye… it s a LEWK.”
Aisling won The Breakthrough Talent Award at the BAFTA’s earlier this year for writing the show.
Aisling shared; “I was so overwhelmed by the love and support for the show. The themes of loneliness and vulnerability seemed to connect in a far more widespread way than I had anticipated, and it feels particularly relevant writing series two during the last few months.”
“I was so touched by the people from different countries, ages, genders and backgrounds who have gotten in touch to share their stories since the show has aired.”
