Electric Picnic kicks off tonight in Stradbally with the majority of people making their way down on Friday.

Ireland’s biggest festival will see 55,000 people make their way down to the event for music, culture and fun.

This means that even more so that other weekends, tens of thousands of people are praying for good, or at least dry, weather.

Festival goers and anyone with outdoor plans this weekend will be happy to know that there is no sign of torrential rain, just some light drizzle. And although temperatures are moderate, it would be wise to stock up on warm clothes for three nights in a tent.

Here’s what Met Eireann are saying about this weekend:

FRIDAY

Kendrick Lamar headlines the first full day of festivities which is set to be cloudy and humid with further outbreaks of rain and drizzle. There will be dry periods as well and highs of 17 to 20 degrees in light southerly breezes.

SATURDAY

Mainly dry and bright with good sunshine and light breezes. It’s a jam-packed line-up on Saturday with Gavin James, Dua Lipa, NERD and Massive Attack all taking to the stage. Highs of 16 to 19 degrees.paul-csogi-18594-unsplash (3)

SUNDAY

Another strong lineup with George Ezra, Picture This, The Prodigy and more on the Sunday, but unfortunately, there will be outbreaks of rain developing over western counties through the day but staying dry in the east until near evening. Highs of 18 to 21 degrees.

MONDAY

As thousands of people flock from the festival, the weather will be dry but breezy, making for an easy departure.
