Kate Hudson knew as soon as she got wind that there was going to be a sequel to Knives Out that she was going to be in it.

When VIP Magazine chatted with her she reveals that she hunted down the writer and director Rian Johnson to nab a role.

And nab that role she did. She plays Birdie Jay, a former supermodel turned fashion designer. So not too far off from who she is as a person.

Speaking about the role she laughs: “I chased Rian. I was slipped the script, and we knew that this part was going to be cast. And I was like, ‘Get me in the room.’.”

Thankfully, things turned out in her favour as Rian Johnson was too delighted to have her onboard. We mean, who wouldn’t be?

“Rian said, ‘Sure, come on in the room. Let’s see what you can do with Birdie.’ And I did my best, and that best seemed to find me here,” she laughs.

Despite being, well, Kate Hudson she was surprised when she did get the role admitting: “I was like, ‘Oh s**t, I’m actually here. I’m in a Knives Out mystery’. I mean, for me, I think just watching Daniel work was a privilege and he’s a consummate professional. Just to be a part of that and to learn from that and to watch was, for me, really something.”

The cast is pretty stacked with the likes of Daniel Craig, Kathryn Hahn (yes, a little How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days reunion) and Jessica Henwick. So how did Kate find working with such an expansive cast?

“It was great. That was fun. I feel like we all immediately just were, like, had known each other forever, immediately.”

She continues: “This was the most fun. There were times when we would be sitting there, and it would literally just be a reaction. And so, the reaction shots were actually, we were all, like, there cheerleading each other.”

The cast are just so sweet, unlike the characters they play!
