Una Healy has slammed Tom Jones for his fat shaming comments about The Voice UK’s first winner, Leanne Mitchell.
The Delilah singer recently spoke out saying Leanne’s singing career had failed because she was overweight – and his controversial comments had viewers calling for him to be sacked.
“When she (Leanne) first came on the show, I thought about (her) trimming down a bit but she had gotten comfortable in this holiday camp and she’d put on some weight from it” he said.
“She took the opportunity of winning The Voice and a chance of getting a record deal which she did, but she put on more weight, got more comfortable with the boyfriend who then maybe became her husband.”
Una, who was a judge on The Voice of Ireland, has hit out at Tom’s comments, saying a person’s weight has nothing to do with their music career.
“Music success has got nothing to do with your weight.” she told The Sun. “How much you weigh won’t affect your drive. Everyone will put on weight at some point. It’s no reason not to do well.”
We’re with you on this one, Una!
