Ireland AM presenter Sinead Desmond has broken her silence about the painful marriage break-up she experience in 2013, admitting it caused her to fall apart.
The TV3 star has spoken for the first time of the “brutal” split from businessman David Ryan after four years of marriage. The pair kept their separation under wraps for a number of months, before Sinead issued a statement to say they would be remaining friends and wished for privacy.
Now, speaking to the RTE Guide, Sinead has revealed the toll that the breakdown of the relationship had on her:
“Marriage breakdown, separation and divorce, the whole lot of it is brutal. It is heart-breaking, soul-battering and confidence-shattering.
“But – and it’s a big but – no one died and someone going through all this will, hopefully, come to understand, as I have, that you’ve been given a second chance to live the life you want.”
She added: “Yes you will fall apart, I know I did. But with the support and love of family and good friends… you will slowly begin to put yourself back together again.
“Then, if you really want to and you’re lucky, you can find someone who you’ll be truly happy with.”
Thankfully, the host said that after all the heartache, she is currently in a good place and is feeling “better for it all.”
Glad to hear, Sinead!
