TV3 have made some notable changes to their schedule, as popular soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale are set to return to the station. Another popular reality show is also set to air on TV3 from next month onwards.
An insider at the station has revealed that the reasoning behind the change up is to increase ratings for the shows before and after the soaps, such as The Seven O’Clock Show. The evening chat show will now be aired at 6pm and be renamed The Six O’Clock Show.
Speaking to the Irish Sun the insider said, “This will provide a massive boost to ratings for the shows sandwiched in between the soaps and straight after the soaps.”
In another shocking change, from the 1st of December I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here will be aired on TV3, while Coronation Street and Emmerdale will be shown on UTV Ireland at the same time.
However, all three shows will eventually make the permanent move to Ballymount, while still being shown on UTV in Northern Ireland.
TV3 lost the rights to the two soaps in 2015 with the arrival of UTV Ireland, but Virgin Media forked out €10 million so that they could return to TV3.
