Galway is definitely a tourist hot spot with its picturesque streets, quaint beaches, and buzzing atmosphere. It’s safe to say you’ll never be stuck for something to do or see in the City of Tribes. But if you’re looking to see a different or more unique side of Galway then I couldn’t recommend tour guide Marteen Lane enough.
As a Galway resident, the charms of the city aren’t exactly lost on me, but I skipped most of the spots, visitors from further afield go out of their way to see during their first stop in the city. But I’ve caught up fairly well now, thanks to Marteen and her amazing knowledge of Galway.
I had the pleasure of getting the lowdown of the city from Marteen herself and found out so much I never knew about spots I see nearly every day. Naturally, the history buff in me was delighted.
She offers three different tours of the city: The Galway Dark Tour, which focuses on the city’s gritty and gory history, perfect for any true crime fans out there. The HerGalway Walking Tour, shares the stories of Galway’s most remarkable women, with familiar names that many will know like Nora Barnacle and lesser-known heroes like Lily McAllister. And finally, The Medieval Galway Tour will take you through the city’s rich medieval history. Honestly, Galway has made a real effort to preserve a lot of its medieval buildings and monuments in some very innovative ways that are well worth seeing.
So if you’re heading to the west coast any time soon, why not see Galway as you’ve never seen it before with one of Marteen’s tours! See more here.
Digital Editor Bronwyn is loving…B Secco
I’m not one for Dry January, last time I did it a global pandemic happened and I just didn’t want to risk it again. Which I think is understandable.
But I did want to cut back so I stumbled across Black Tower’s B Secco range. They have a white and rosé option with both having just 5.5% abv. It means that I can enjoy a tipple without being as bold as usual.
They were great options over the festive period and the bubbles were on hand to ring in the New Year. And I woke up without a pounding headache.
You can pick up a bottle in shops across the country including Tesco, Dunnes and Supervalu.
Staff Writer Anja is loving…BPerfect x Ekin-Su
Christmas may have come and gone but thankfully I received some lovely gifts before finishing up for the holidays, one of which I’m completely obsessed with! Firstly, BPerfect has teamed up with Love Island 2022 winner Ekin-Su for a luxurious new collection and I couldn’t be more in love with it. For me, the Radiant Glow Skin Enhancer stands out in particular.
Available in six different shades for your choosing, it’s infused with hydrating Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E and Camellia Oil to keep your skin looking, well you guessed it, radiant!
You can wear it on its own, as a base before applying your makeup or what I like to do is mix a little bit into my suncream in the morning which helps give me an extra bit of a glow on those no-make days.
You can view it here, along with the rest of the EKIN-SU collection.
