Jamie Dornan is heading to Ireland for the second season of the thriller series The Tourist, and we couldn’t be more excited!
The first season, which aired on the BBC in January 2022, became the most-watched drama of the year in the UK, winning an array of awards at the Monte-Carlo Television Festival.
Taking place a year on from their adventure in the Australian Outback, the new six-part thriller will follow Jamie and Danielle Macdonald as they reprise their roles as Elliot and Helen and travel to Ireland together to discover more about Elliot’s past.
Speaking about the grand return, Jamie admitted that he was “incredibly excited” to continue his story with The Tourist.
“Harry and Jack Williams are brilliant writers and I can’t wait for audiences to see how well Ireland and its characters are utilised to keep them guessing as the tale progresses,” he shared.
While co-star Danielle added: “I’m so excited to team up with Jamie again and return for another wild adventure with an amazing cast and crew.
“Jack and Harry Williams are brilliant storytellers and it’s exciting to see what their minds will come up with next.”
While we don’t know much about where they’re going to film in the capital just quite yet, you can expect some possible sightings in and around Dublin this spring.
“The Tourist was unlike anything we’d written before and we’re hugely grateful for the incredible response to series one,” revealed the William brothers.
“It’s been an exciting journey getting stuck into that world again with the quirky characters that were so loved, and seeing where we could take them next, whilst continuing to deliver a tonally unique and off-beat drama.”
Season one of The Tourist followed Elliot (played by Jamie) who loses his memory after a mysterious hit-and-run incident.
