“The sky is the limit….” Stormzy shares inspirational video with Dublin secondary school students

A secondary school in Dublin was among the first groups of people ever to see Stormzy’s new music video.

Baldoyle mixed secondary school Pobalscoil Neasain got to see his new animated video for Superheroes.

The single is taken from his ‘Heavy Is The Head’ album and the video was accompanied by a poignant speech from Stormzy himself.

In the speech, he said: “I wanted to show it to you guys first [because] being students at school, I think it’s important that you guys understand how powerful you are…”

“Despite the colour of your skin, despite where you come from, despite your religion, despite whatever it is that you feel may be holding you back; you are a Superhero. So, I wanted to make this video to inspire you guys, to make you realise that the sky is the limit.”

The Baldoyle students joined schools in London, Manchester and Glasgow in viewing the video. Superheroes takes inspiration from children’s films, whilst also honouring many modern-day superheroes including British musicians Dave and Little Simz.

Stormzy’s lyrics also tip hats to talent such Noughts and Crosses author, Malorie Blackman, British actor Michael Dapaah, US tennis stars, Serena and Venus Williams and include quotes from the theme tune to British children’s show, Tracy Beaker.
