The bubble skirt is bursting back into our summer wardrobes

Last summer we saw the return of the 1970s-style midi denim skirt, and if the S/S 2024 runway is anything to go by it looks like we may have another skirt variation bubbling up from the 1980s.

Low and behold the ‘bubble skirt’. This fashion phenomenon was even given a sophisticated spin by none other than Princess Diana. She wore a black and white Polka dot puffball skirt with a super long white blazer, to the Cannes Film Festival in 1987.

The bubble skirt has ebbed into history with many other 80s fashion fads, as over-the-top and eccentric. Yes, the skirt gives a slightly My Big Fat Greek Wedding-esque vibe, but if styled appropriately it can be both stylish and modern.

Miu Miu S/S 24 and A/W 24 have both showcased how the bubble can be styled more casually to fit our not-so-80s
