Stranger Things is one of Netflix’s most successful shows, catapulting its stars into the limelight. But one cast member has swapped the paranormal filled town of Hawkins for rural Ireland.
Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin Henderson, was spotted enjoy a getaway to Kerry.
The Kingdom has plenty of tourist spots on offer Killarney National Park, Skellig Michael, and Ireland’s largest mountain, Carrauntoohil. But Gaten decided to live like a local and visit a distinctly Irish cultural institution: heading to the local Spar.
Sheehy’s Spar in Dingle took to Instagram to share Gaten’s visit to their shop. Posting a snap of the star, in the shop’s aisles. Captioning it: “Look who popped in to us today… Gaten Matarazzo …Stranger Things”
Gaten himself has yet to share much of his Irish holiday yet, but here’s hoping he got a few tips from his Irish co-star Amybeth McNulty.
Donegal girl Amybeth took up the role of Vicky in the sensational sci-fi drama, during the latest season in 2022.
Sharing her love for the project, she gush about the show’s cast and crew, particularly the Duffer brothers, to Irish Central.
Saying: “Now it feels like I’m playing a role that I’m really not acting in. The Duffer brothers (the shows writers, directors, and producers) are so amazing with getting you involved in the character and the costume and how you want to look and how you want to be perceived.”
Explaining; “That was really new for me, instead of one who’s obviously already written. You know, when you’ve got to kind of go along with what’s already there. I enjoyed that.”
