Sharon Horgan opens up about her divorce

Sharon Horgan

Sharon Horgan has taken the film and tv world by storm over the years, however, now the actress is opening up about her personal life – more specifically her divorce in a candid new interview.

Yes, the Catastrophe actress was married to businessman Jeremy Rainbird but separated in 2019 after 14 years together.

The pair also share two children together – Sadhbh and Amer.

Sharon, who was born in the UK and raised in Ireland, has since gone on to win an IFTA and a TV Bafta at this year’s ceremonies for her hit Apple+ dark comedy series Bad Sisters.

Speaking about her divorce to Red Magazine, Sharon admitted: “I found it scary at first, but it’s just about learning to do things in a slightly different way.

“Everything I was relying on another person for, I was then able – for the most part – to teach myself.

“I’m not saying I don’t have help around me – it’s a big old thing I’m running here – but learning how to do things I was scared of, has made my life richer.

“I feel more in control and more independent. I certainly feel happier than I have been in the last few years.”

Sharon also added that in the end, it was the right thing to do for her and not something that anyone should feel shame from.

“Divorce can be a really helpful, handy thing that can change your life.

“There’s a lot of shame attached to the failure of a relationship, and that shouldn’t be the case.”

As far as when we can expect to see the “Bad Sister” gals back in action, it looks like we might be waiting another little while since filming doesn’t actually commence until September.

Until then, you can catch Sharon in BBC One’s upcoming four-part series Best Interests.
