Ryan Tubridy has been left ‘heartbroken’ after listening in to calls the Society of St Vincent De Paul got from people around Christmas time.

The Late Late Show host launched the society’s annual appeal to the public to say ‘yes’ to helping 50,000 families this Christmas.

The father-of-two sat in on some of the phone call’s the society received around Christmas time and found it heartbreaking.

“I’ve sat in on phone calls and that’s pretty heart-breaking,” he said.

“I have been involved with St Vincent De Paul since I was a kid and it always amazes me. Every year they fill emptiness in people’s lives whether it’s through food, a few bob, paying a bill, it’s very important.”

The Society of St Vincent De Paul Say Yes campaign asks people to donate what they can to help 50,000 families avoid an empty Christmas.
