Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have both shared touching tributes to Mark Woods and his dog Walnut as they went for Walnut’s final walk before getting put down today.

Yesterday on This Morning, the talk show hosts interviewed Mark Woods whose ‘last walk’ post about his dying dog went viral.

Mark sent an open invitation to animal lovers on Facebook to join him as he takes his beloved dog Walnut for his final walk before he’s put down.

He wrote, “Sadly I am having to have Walnut euthanised on Saturday 12th November and so we will be having a last walk together on his beloved Porth Beach at 9.30am. I would love it if dog lovers/owners and friends would join us for a celebration of Walnut on his favourite Porth Beach. He has had an incredible life and having reached the grand age of 18 is ready for his final sleep. Hope to see you on Saturday.”

After sharing this status he was inundated with messages from dog owners saying they’d join him for Walnut’s final walk.

After the interview, Ruth broke down into tears and Eamonn had to take over presenting momentarily.

Today, as hundreds of people took to Porth Beach to support Mark on his ‘final walk’ with Walnut, Eamonn and Ruth both took to Twitter to share their condolences and commend everyone who turned up to the beach.

Ruth wrote on Twitter saying, “Thanks to everyone who turned out to support Mark and Walnut on their final walk together. Rest in peace darling Walnut.”

Eamonn took to Twitter saying, “Thank you everyone who turned out in Newquay. Send our love, strength and peace vibes to Mark for #Walnutslastwalk.”
