Emer O’Neill splashed onto the scene when she stepped in to cover Sinead Kennedy’s maternity leave on Today on RTÉ One.
Since then she’s certainly been making a name for herself.
And now she will be dipping her toe into the music world!
She took to Instagram to reveal that she was hoping to represent Ireland at Eurovision 2023.

The presenter has collaborated with songwriter Dan O’Gorman on a song called Take Me Home, which is about her mental health journey.
She shared the news on social media on Mental Health Day, explaining: “With today being World Mental Health Day I don’t think I could have found a better day to post this. So….here it goes!!
“I am nervous, anxious and overwhelmingly excited to share this post. It has been super hard keeping this to myself but I can finally share what I have been working on the past few months. I am delighted to announce that I have entered a song into this year’s Eurovision pool for Ireland.”
She went on to say: “Those that know me, know how obsessed I am and always have been with The Eurovision. There is always a big deal made in my house and it has been a dream of mine to attend a live Eurovision one day and another far-fetched dream to enter and sing a song at the Eurovision. So with the help of THE MOST TALENTED musician and songwriter Dan O’Gorman, Take Me Home was created.
“It is a song about my mental health journey and to bring awareness to our invisible illness. To help others know that they are not alone and that there is a home for us where we can feel we belong. And that comes from being united, seeking help and loving ourselves for who we are.”
She was full of praise for Dan as she explained that he created a “melodically stunning piece but his lyrical genius embodies much of my long struggle with depression and anxiety”.
“Whether we are successful or not I couldn’t be more happy to have fulfilled one of my dreams and Dan it has been a wonderful journey with you and I hope it doesn’t end here.”
We’ll just have to wait and see if Emer gets through to represent us on the stage in Liverpool next year.
