RTE weather presenter Gerald Fleming has announced his retirement, after 37 years as a meteorologist.
The long running Met Eireann employee announced the news today, and said he “wouldn’t miss walking round the corridors of RTÉ on a Sunday night”.
“I’ve a big change in my life,” Gerald revealed on Sean O’Rourke’s radio show today.
“I’m reaching 60 this month, so I’ve decided that come the end of the year I’ll be stepping away from Met Éireann and I’ll be retiring – not from meteorology, I hope.

“I’ve reached this stage happily in good health with plenty of energy and plenty of interest and there are other things in my life that I want to focus on and enjoy.”
The news comes after Six One news presenter Bryan Dobson made the move to RTE radio, while Caitriona Perry and Keelin Shanley prepare to take over as the first all female presenting team of the main evening news.
All the best to Gerald in the future!
