Lucca Allen, son of chef Rachel Allen, is the first driver to join the new Ford F4 British Challenge Cup. This is a new initiative which is certified by FIA, and allows drivers to compete for under £100,000 pounds.

The 14-year-old is already making tracks in the Irish karting world, having already won the Motorsport Ireland Cadet Championship, the Irish Karting Club Championship and the Southern Irish Karting Championship, to name a few.

Speaking of the exciting new move Lucca said that this experience is going to be very special, and is setting the standard high for himself.

He'll be the first driver to sign with the initiative.

“I’m going to be the first Irish driver to make the step up to British F4 so I hope to be able to set a high standard and be right up there.

“Coming from Cork and racing in British F4 which has manufacturer backing from Ford is very special, especially as Henry Ford’s father came from Cork. It was also home to the first Ford factory in Europe.

“It’s really exciting with the introduction of the Challenge Cup to see if we can compete with the bigger teams with the bigger budgets.

“Testing has gone really well. We’ve been improving every time we have gone out on track so I’m hopeful we can be on the pace soon and aiming for wins,” he said.

This is a very exciting step for the teenager, we wish him the best of luck.
