Pro-Golfer Leona Maguire opens up about her LPGA win; “Dreamt about this moment for a long time and we’re only getting started!”

Pro-golfer, Leona Maguire has opened up about her incredible LGPA win over the weekend. The Cavan native has made history as the very first Irish golfer to win the tour as she clinched her win with a three shot victory, finishing in 18 under par in the final round of 67.

Sharing her delight after her win the 27-year-old said;
“Dreamt about this moment for a long time and we’re only getting started! Couldn’t have done it without the help of my incredible team & family.”

Continuing she added;  “It’s a bit surreal…it’s 17 years in the making. I’m just proud of how the whole week went, especially today.”

Many famous faces were quick to share their congratulations with Leona after her historic win with rugby star Tommy Bowe saying; “Congratulations Leona! Amazing!”

Fellow pro-golfer, Shane Lowry said; “Unreal… congrats Leona!” and Irish President Michael D. Higgins even shared his congratulations with her.

Posting to Twitter he said; “Congratulations to @leona_maguire for her historic achievement in becoming the first Irish @LPGA Tour winner at the Drive On Championship. Another fantastic Irish sportswoman leading the way internationally.”
