RTE star Bryan Dobson is reportedly set to step away from his position as Six One news anchor.

The nations most recognisable news reporter is understood to be making the move from the Six One news on RTE television, to RTE radio’s morning show Morning Ireland.

The news was reported today by the Sunday Independent, as they claimed that RTE are planning a re-jig of the entire network.

The 57-year-old has been presenting the news at Six One since 1996.

Bryan’s co-anchor, Sharon Ní Bheoláin, also spoke out about the pay gap between her and her male co-host.

“As someone who values her privacy the very notion of sharing my salary with your newspaper is abhorrent to me. I do recognise, however, inequality and gender pay are key social issues in need of examination and so it would be cowardly of me not to comment.” She told The Sunday Independent.

“I can confirm the 2014 pay disparity you reference was accurate. However, this pay gap has since narrowed. In return for a pay rise, I have also undertaken extra duties.

“I believe that I am well remunerated, but, for the record, my pay is still considerably less than that of Bryan’s. I won’t be commenting further.”
