Music fans may not be impressed by the recently announced plans to turn one of Dublin’s most popular music spots into a hotel.

It was announced this week that Vicar Street will be made into a 185-bedroom hotel.

Though the new building will still include a music venue, it will hold 500 more people than before, making the venue considerably larger.

Many music lovers took to Twitter to rant about the small intimate venue losing that aspect in the new design.

They plan to offer ‘Rock and Room’ packages which features a gig, food and a room.

The new building will also feature a new private nightclub on the top floor.

Vicar Street played host to a number of musical icons since it’s opening in 1998.
