Activist Paddy Smyth has taken to social media to share a thoughtful message ahead of this weekend’s Pride celebrations.
As always, Paddy is proud to be a part of the LGBTQ+ community.
However, the BBC creator resident still believes that now more than ever, people need Pride.
Taking to Instagram, Paddy wrote: “With hate crime and uncertainty on the rise you can really see an undercurrent of regression happening.

“Which is scary and so sad to see,” he added.
“I love this country and I’ve been blessed to have a support network around me that backs me and allows me to be who I am without fear or judgment.
“Thank you to them,” he continued.
“Don’t we all deserve love? Don’t we all serve to feel safe and be ourselves?”
Before concluding his post, Paddy shared a reminder to his followers of what Pride is all about.
“Remember Pride is a celebration of uniqueness but it is also a protest to stand up for what’s right.”
“Stand with us! Happy Pride. Be safe.”
Well said Paddy!
