It’s a big week for Galway actress, Nicola Coughlan as the second season of hit show Bridgerton will be released on streaming platforms. To celebrate, last night was the premiere which saw the cast step out in style to promote the next instalment of the popular show.

Sadly, Nicola revealed that she was unable to attend the premiere after testing positive for Covid. This is especially disappointing for the star as there was no premiere, and very little in-person press for the first season of the show as it was released at the height of the pandemic restrictions.

Sharing the news to social media yesterday Nicola rose to the occasion by glamorously accessorising her towel and dressing gown with a red lip and jewellery, now that’s how you do isolation in style!

Posting the snap to social media she said;  “My Bridgerton Premiere look- a little different than expected!”

“So I’ve been struck down with Miss Rona and I’m missing our first premiere- heartbroken is an understatement but sending so much love to my gorgeous cast mates who I hope have the best night.”

The first season of the show hit our screens at Christmas 2020, and quickly became the most streamed Netflix show of all time, a complete runaway success so it’s fair to say that the pressure is on now for season two!

In November filming wrapped on the second instalment and Nicola shared some insights into what we can expect, revealing that it’s even ‘spicier’ than the last.

The second season is based on book number two in the Bridgerton novel series, The Viscount Who Loved Me, which focuses on the eldest in the family, Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) as he explores a relationship with newbie to the show, Kate Sharma.

We will also see the family from across Grosvenor Square, the Featheringtons welcome the new heir to their estate, and all the while Penelope Featherington, played by our very own Nicola Coughlan, will be continuing to play her own cards very close to her chest….

The new season will air this Friday 25th of March!
