Between the beautiful landscape, blue water sea and the generosity of those that live here, there really is no better place to film than Ireland.
If you think we’re biased then just take it from world-renowned director M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense), and his daughter Ishana Shyamalan, who are currently here scouting filming locations for a brand new supernatural thriller.
The movie which is based on an Irish novel The Watchers, will be 22-year-old Ishana’s directorial debut.
While actress Dakota Fanning has already signed up to play the main character Mina, an artist who becomes stranded in a remote forest in the west of Ireland.
According to a synopsis for The Watchers, the story follows Mina who after finding shelter, becomes unknowingly trapped alongside three strangers that are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.
Sounds spooky indeed!
Ishana also wrote the script for the film, which is adapted from the 2021 novel by Irish author A.M. Shine.
Described as “A spine-chilling Irish horror adventure set in the remote unknown forests of Galway,” M. Night Shyamalan recently posted to Twitter to show that himself and his daughter were currently in Ireland.
This is me and my daughter Ishana in Ireland. We are location scouting her first writer/director feature there. I’m so moved and inspired by her. She leads everyone with grace and creative fire. pic.twitter.com/5Yt3VBQjuR

It’s not yet known what part of Ireland the father-daughter duo were scouting, with details still very much kept under wraps, but with a June 2024 release, we’re sure we’ll learn more very soon.
We’ll keep you updated!
