Mrs. Brown’s Boys star Rory Cowan has opened up about how fame has affected his love life.
The actor has revealed he will be spending Christmas alone this year as he hasn’t settled down with anyone since the BBC show became so succesful.
Speaking to RSVP Magazine, the 56-year-old explained that it’s hard to date someone when you’re easily recognised from a tv programme.
“When I’m on a date there are people constantly approaching me for autographs and photos,” he said.
“That’s the reason that there’s never a second date. Nobody would put up with being pushed out of the way like that. That’s just the way it is and I don’t mind that.”
Despite how annoying this may be, the famously cheery star said that it doesn’t bother him as he loves meeting his fans.
“They only ever have good things to say,” he noted.
Rory, who won VIP’s Most Stylish Man Award in April, previously admitted, “There never was a love of my life.”
But the popular tv star revealed he was mobbed with wedding proposals from women in Australia, despite being openly “gay and proud”.
“We were in Sydney and one girl said, ‘Can I have your hand?’, I thought she just wanted to shake my hand,” he told the Irish Mirror.
“But she got down on one knee and she said she wanted to propose marriage to me.
He added: “I said to her, ‘Dear, have you seen the show? What I’m doing is not the Stanislavski school of method acting, I’m actually playing a part that is pretty close to me’. She said, ‘I understand that but I really think the two of us could be very happy together’.”
Rory was in Dublin yesterday dressed as a Christmas fairy to promote the launch of How Now Mrs. Brown Cow on DVD. How amazing does he look!?
