The funeral mass is taking place in Dublin’s Pro Cathedral this morning, and was attended by Ryan Tubridy, Pat Kenny, Miriam O’Callaghan, Joe Duffy and other big names in RTE.
An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and President Michael D Higgins were also in attendance – while thousands more mourners took to the streets of the Capital to pay their final respects.
The former host of The Late Late Show made his final journey from his hometown of Howth to Dublin’s city centre this morning, and was applauded by many onlookers throughout the route.
Gay’s wife Kathleen, and two daughter Suzy and Crona led the mourners, with Suzy giving a fitting speech of thanks to the congregation.
