Irish Olympic boxer Michael Conlon has made a major announcement on social media. The 24-yer-old athlete took to Twitter last night to share some exciting news with his followers.
Belfast native Michael revealed last night that he will be making the move from amateur boxing to the professional leagues, after signing up for Top Rank promotion which is run by promoter Bob Arum.
On Twitter he shared a picture of himself in the boxing ring and alongside it wrote, “It’s done! #TopRank #TRBoxing.”
The Olympian was robbed of a medal in Rio earlier this year when judges ruled that he had lost his fight to Russian opponent Vladimir Nikitin.
This news comes after fellow olympic boxer Paddy Barnes confirmed that he is also leaving the amateur ranks to pursue a professional career.
