Irish broadcasters stepped out this week at the opening of Gabriel Byrne’s latest production, Walking with Ghosts. The premiere took place at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin and saw plenty of well known Irish faces out supporting this new venture.
The show is adapted from the actor’s best-selling memoir of the same name and has been much anticipated in the theatre industry which was clear from the support yesterday evening. The story follows Gabriel as a young boy growing up on the outskirts of Dublin who took solace in the fields and hills near where he lived, as the city gradually grew outwards.
It is a commentary on how even when you’ve experienced the glittering of Hollywood and Broadway the place we are from is what shapes and moulds us. It’s both heartbreaking and hilarious and is directed by Emmy award winning director, Lonny Price.
