If there’s one woman who knows how to transform a small garden into a space of tranquillity it’s going to be Maïa Dunphy.

The broadcaster has been working hard to make the most out of her apartment’s balcony garden and it’s safe to say it has been worth every ounce of labour!

From what was once a pretty average balcony space to a botanical dream, Maïa has shared a few helpful tips with her followers who may be looking to do something similar.

Taking to Instagram, Maïa started: “Who says you can’t create a garden space in an apartment!”

“Our balcony is TINY, but we’ve maximised it, baskets hanging out the other direction help, and we’re waiting for our herbs, tomatoes and all the bee-friendly flowers to come up!

“With the produce we’re growing, we’ll be self-sufficient for at least 24 minutes,” she joked.

“Lookit, yes we have sh*t-grass, but the key with any plastic nastiness is to keep it as long as you can.

“We’ve had it for 7 years, and it’ll be here for as long as we are, so won’t be going to landfill any time soon.”

Maïa then detailed the one slightly impractical part of her garden – a cast iron and solid marble table that came from her granny.

“It came from my beloved Granny’s shop on the Quays in New Ross, she used to make pastry on it daily, and it’s about 150 years old, so it’s staying,” she noted.

To top it all off, Maïa ensured fans that she is all about the ambience, adding:  “There will be summer fairy lights.”

We love it!
